But seriously.. how is that even possible? If you drive an HGV you should bloody well know how tall it is..

Shortage of truck drivers especially long haul in the US. Hiring any idiot that comes along. But yeah 10 feet is insanely low everyone know you won’t fit.

reminds of the ad for the local deli that promises that the road to perfection doesn’t have shortcuts....only thats like the hallmark of their service, to deliver as little actual food as possible. Im not joking when I say that unless I specifically ask i never get more than a few noodles and maybe a single carrot chunk in a cup of chicken noodle soup.
Advertising doesn’t work if its just lovely words arranged nicely that also happens to be a total lie.

You don’t need a specific license in the US? Could everyone and his mother sign up and become a long hauler?

You do, but it’s not terribly hard to get.

Soo.. My three month class (8-10 hours every day) in how to drive a Lorry is pretty much useless in the US? I could’ve just gone to the US an say “hey.. I’d like to drive a big truck” ?

I don’t know if it’s the same in every state, but in Florida you can get a CDL A license without even going to school if you can pass all of the tests. Why wouldn’t you want to just come to a free country anyway, though?

You need a truck licence even in America although I doubt if it’s very difficult.
Interestingly some states don’t have a driving test for cars....

Adding to the irony is the advertisement on the side saying that they’re looking for more drivers.

Hehe.. I actually would like to live in the US, perhaps not for the rest of my life.. but a few years would be cool. But finding a job and getting a Visa isn’t that easy I presume.

No driving test? wow.. that’s.. uhm.. stupid?
![]() 05/16/2015 at 07:22 |

Yeah, getting a visa’s kind of a pain. Jobs aren’t too bad, but you’d have to find a job willing to sponsor your visa, which I imagine would be a pain in the trucking industry.

A huge pain actually..
